Stephen Bayard was in the battles of Ft. George, Ft. Ticonderoga, Brandywine and Germantown. He was acquainted with Lafayette and Benedict Arnold. Bayard was captain of the Silk Stocking Company of Philadelphia. After the war, he was involved with the present day University of Pittsburgh when it was founded. He founded the town of Elizabeth.
